Central nervous system disorders: brain or spinal cord dysfunction caused by trauma or disease. It includes spinal cord injuries, concussions, cte, stroke, alzheimer"s, Combined, neurological and mental disorders result in more american hospitalization than any other major disease group, including cancer and heart disease. It is a large health burden and it affects a lot of us in many different ways. Eric legrand: fractured c3 and c4 cervical vertebrae, quadriplegic, put on respirator right away, doctors informed his mother that he would likely need a machine to breath for the rest of his life. They also told his mother than he would have between 0-5% chances for ever walking again. Nervous system: nervous system: transmits signals between different parts of the body, central nervous system: the brain and spinal cord, peripheral nervous system: nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. The spinal cord carries messages between the brain and body.
