Document Summary

What"s right in/for one culture/individual may not be right for others. Idea of universal moral principles is ambiguous. 1) what people believe is right & wrong is different in different cultures. (rachels) isn"t as generally true as some people think underlying moral principles are still similar. Prof is true but not controversial/interesting. Suicide bombing is universally wrong so those who disagree have a mistaken belief. Relativity of belief doesn"t inherently entail relativity of morality. 2) what is right and wrong is different in different cultures. What"s right in canada can be diff from what"s right in afghanistan, which can be diff from what"s right in brazil. The most common reason the uncontroversial one about moral belief. Ie canadians have diff moral beliefs than afghanis. What"s right for a culture/individual is what the culture/individual believes is right. Ie the claim about differing moral truths depends on the claim about differing moral beliefs.
