Now that sequencing is becoming increasingly cheap, what is thevalue of recombination-based genetic mapping against thesequence-based genetic mapping?

I think that in the past recombination-based genetic maps wereused as blueprints for sequencing projects. But since now theentire genome can be sequenced pretty cheaply both in time andmoney, what is the unique value of recombination-based geneticmapping?

One thing that comes to mind but I am not very sure. It might besuitable for mapping novel phenotypic markers e.g., unmappeddiseases.
