Background and context
Leydig cells are the most crucial and essential cells located in the testes of the male gonads. They lie adjacent to the seminiferous tubules in the testes that are responsible to produce testosterones. It is a primary male sex hormone that contributes to the development of male reproductive tissues like the testes and the prostate. It also promotes secondary sexual characteristics in males.
