Both the behaviourist and the psychoanalytic approach have provided explanations for attachment, and both emphasize the importance of feeding behaviour. The importance of feeding and drive reduction: feeding is important because it elicits positive responses from the infant which are likely to increase the caregiver"s affection for the child.
