Value assumption: the way it is thought that it should be. Application: clearly state the significance of the evidence, present argument of claim and supporting evidence, provide evidence that shows soundness. Words to look for: because, as a result of, for example, in addition, given that, studies show. A logical link that fills the gap between the evidence and the claim. Application: make it clear that the evidence is relevant by articulating the underlying assumptions, question the assumptions.
