Behaviours, ideas, attitudes, values and traditions shared by a group of people and passed from one generation to the next. Cultural neuroscience studies how neurobiology and cultural traits influence each other. Culture shock occurs when a person is unsure of what"s expected or accepted in a new and different culture. Some cultures surround individualism, while others value collectivism more. Individualism: giving priority to one"s own goals over group goals and defining ones identity in terms of personal attributes. Individualist outlooks can come with higher divorce and stress-related disease, as well as feelings of loneliness. Collectivism: giving priority to the goals of one"s group and defining one"s own identity based on this group. (typically extended family or work group. ) In studies, men are seen to be more physically aggressive. Worldwide, men are perceived to be more dominant then women which could be attributed to the fact that men"s power hunger is more socially acceptable then women"s.
