HIST 103 Lecture Notes - Social Darwinism, Joseph Goebbels, Tyrant
Document Summary
The first half of the 20th century was not only a period of territorial expansion; it was also a period of ideological expansion. Fascism, liberalism, and communism were the dominating ideologies that advanced the outbreaks of world war i and world war ii. By comparing those ideologies, it can be learned that some of the ideologies overlap one another to some extent. The main advocate of fascism in the 1920s was adolf hitler. Under this system, individuals are allowed to own means of production but with a condition that their businesses will serve the national interests. In a similar degree, under the liberal system, individuals own means of production without the obligation to serve the national interests. On the contrary, under communism, individuals do not own either private property or means of production. When it comes to race, liberalism and communism possess a considerable amount of similarity. Under these systems, no one is more superior to the other.
