You have been asked to place a paper and three contemporary items from your generation in a time capsule that will be placed in a cornerstone of a public building. This cornerstone will be opened in the year 2100, at which time it will be read by the people of the community.

Think about two things:

a. What information about your generation do you want future generations to know? This will be the focus of your paper.

b. What items will you choose to place in the time capsule? Why did you choose these items?

Write your paper as a scene or a series of scenes. Remember, each scene should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Also remember that each scene should do one or more of the following

a. Provide exposition

b. Describe character

c. Advance the plot

 

Explain how each one of these elements can be found in your scene or scenes.

A. Plan an imaginary dinner to which you invite several famous people. These may be a combination of living and deceased personalities. Write at least three scenes describing your dinner party. Each scenes should do one of the following:

a. Provide exposition (explain)

b. Describe character

c. Advance the plot

B. After you have completed writing the scenes, explain how each scene follows the general rules for the elements of 'scene' and also provide a brief explanation of why your chose these particular personalities to attend your party.

A. Describe the one day in your life you would choose to re-live if only you could. As you write your description of that day, think about the rules for writing 'scene.'

B. After you complete your 'scene' explain how you used the general rules for 'scene' in your writing. Identify how the scene does one or more of the following:

a. Provides exposition

b. Describes character

c. Advances the plot
