ORGS 2010 Study Guide - Picot, Noblesse Oblige, Wart
Document Summary
At core of your company, there is a group of people who call all of the shots. Everything in the organization comes later (satisfying customers, returning investment to shareholders, creating wealth); shots seem to be called for their benefit. Core group: it exists in people"s minds and hearts; comprises the cluster of people whose perceived interests and needs are taken into account as decisions are made throughout the organization. Their existence contradicts the vital corporate premise that we all have a common stake in the company"s success. The company has a greater stake in the success of some employees than of others. In small start-ups: core group consist of entrepreneurial founders, angel mentor or a confidant. Organization can be led only in a manner consistent with perceived attitudes of the core group; may need to remove some of key core group members or persuade them to publicly and consistently embrace company goals.
