Differences between groups: whenever an author says that an outcome is caused by a specific difference between groups, ask: are there any other differences btwn these groups that may be relevant? . If other relevant factors r present, this is a plausible rival cause. Claim: a stronger company vision causes better performance, while a weaker vision causes poorer performance: the authors have taken a correlation btwn these 2 factors & r claiming a causal link. Although these 2 factors may be correlated, it is a 3rd factor linked to both the 2 factors, which contribute to heart attacks, & that it is the heat/temperature outside.
