More likely to encode information which fits the schema, not contrary evidence (resistant to change) Cognitive theorists view people as their own scientist, predicting the world; we impose organization via schemas, and make inferences about the rest. Schema: a mental organization of information (categories with many elements such as images times and places) or a best actual member. Semantic memory:organized by meaning, for objects and concepts- often develop out of episodic memory/experience.
