The most specific manipulative instrument of politics: electoral systems and how votes are. Winner-take-all with single ballot: great britain (smp, single member plurality) House of commons (lower house but is the dominant chamber) Great britain divided into as many electoral districts as there are parliamentary seats-currently. 655- in each district the candidate who gets the most votes wins the seat. 3 parties, one gets 40% and the other two 30% each, the 40% one takes it all. Strongly biased in favour of the two largest parties in a country. However, in britain third parties are numerically much stronger than in america. Candidates have to win their districts and the parties must win more than half the districts to have a majority.
