There may be more overlap between autism and cos than previously thought, the links are needed to be reexamined. 11 autism children (first few years: attention: objects > ppl, avoid eye contact, lack social awareness, limited/ no language, stereotyped motor activities, preservation of sameness (anxiously and obsessively maintain sameness in daily routines and activities) Early infantile autism: an extreme autistic aloneness that disregards, ignores, shuts out anything that from outside. Refrigerator parents: highly intelligent and obsessive ppl who were cold, mechanical and detached in their relationships. This early view of autism is unsupported --> alternative explanations: hostile, coldhearted parents --> child"s defensive withdrawal, disrupted development --> child failed to enter the reality. Autism = biologically based lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder (present in the first few years) Children with asd behave in unusual and frequently puzzling ways. Extreme fear or avoidance of noisy or moving objects (e. g. the running water, swings)
