Corporate chain: involves multiple outlets under common ownership, e. g. zellers, bay, etc. They have advantages in dealing with manufacturers as they can ask for discounts, etc. Their buying power allows them to offer competitive prices. Contractual systems: involve independently owned stores that band together to act like a chain. Business format franchise: the franchiser provides step by step procedures for most aspects of the business for which managerial advice is provided, e. g. mcdonalds. Product format franchise, e. g. coca cola: legal service is used to describe the degree of service provided to the customer.
