Intuition being able to know something without thinking about it. Being able to know your patient through relating to them as a person. Relationships often during clinical situation or over long-term. Nurses: compassion, caring, interpersonal skills along with high cognition, behavior and technical competencies: autonomy of the individual. Patient has full right to self-management and decision making. Nurse respect human consciousness, meaning and common destiny. Help patient define their health goals and receive care reflective of their personal values. Allows us to see connections between things. How well a person can cope/manage change in their health. Gather info about behavior and state of adaption. Ram has various steps that lead to a behavior either adaptive or ineffective. Adaptive behavior reflects 5 goals of adaptation whereas ineffectiveness does not (growth, reproduction, mastery, environment transformation, survival)
