Hypothesis testing: the scientific method of collecting observations to confirm or disconfirm beliefs about the relationship between variables: the goal of hypothesis testing is to make accurate predictions about the world and reduce uncertainty. Inductive method of hypothesis testing: you observe events and then come up with a belief/hypothesis about the events you observed. Deductive method of hypothesis testing: formulating a hypothesis that you believe to be true and then infer consequences from it. Observations are then made to verify if your hypothesis is correct.
