Management teams: a relatively permanent team that participates in managerial level tasks that affect the entire organization: responsible for coordinating activities of organizational subunits to help achieve long term goals, commitment to management team is offset by the responsibilities they have in leading their unit. Conflict may be triggered: norming: members realize that they need to work together to accomplish team goals and begin to cooperate with each other, performing: members are comfortable with their roles and the team progresses towards goals, adjourning: members experience anxiety as they disengage and separate from the team. Surface level diversity: diversity of observable attributes such as race, gender, ethnicity, and age: may negatively impact teams early in existence, negative impacts usually disappear as members become more knowledgeable about one another, fault lines often occur in diverse groups where subgroups develop based on similar surface level attributes.
