Dealing with issues and crisis is part of any organization. Some issues arise as of a result of human error, while others such as natural disasters are unavoidable. A theory that proposes that the best course of action in any situation depends on the specifics of the situation. Along the contingency spectrum there are five options for managing issues and conflict. To the far left is pure advocacy: stance where pr representatives firmly pleads an organizations case without compromise, often disagreeing with public concern. To the far right is pure accommodation: where the pr reps fully concede to a public"s demands, agreeing with its publics: organizations will often issue an apology when accommodating. In many cases social media has given publics more power over organizations than in the past, but even in those cases not all organizations will concede to the masses online.
