Forebrain: multiple are interconnected structures in the forebrain are critical to processes like emotion, memory, thinking and reasoning. Sympathetic nervous system: controls the body"s responses to a perceived threat and is responsible for the fight or flight . Parasympathetic nervous system: controls homeostasis and the body at rest; responsible for the body"s rest and digest function. Limbic system: a network involved in emotion and memory. Hippocampus: learning and memory; formation of new memories. Middle of the neuron is the nucleus. Neurons can either send messages to other parts of the body or they send messages to the body to relax. The nucleus is where the signals come together, a low level chemical is then shot through the axon -> to the axon terminals -> to other neurons.
