Single most important aspect of scientific research is that it strives for objectivity: objectivity: certain facts about the world can be observed and tested independently from the individual who describes them. As soon as people observe an event, their interpretation of it becomes subjective: subjective: people"s knowledge of the event is shaped by prior beliefs, expectations, experiences, and even their mood. Purpose: for the objectivity influences how scientific research is conducted in at least five ways quality scientific research meets. This will be applied to any methods of conducting research. It is based on measurements that objective, valid, and reliable. The difference is the margin of error mentioned above. Variable: the object, concept, or event being measured. Operational definitions: statements that describe the procedures and specific measures that are used to record observations: ex) intoxication(variable) Behavioral measure: # of missteps when walking straight. Self-reported measure: score on the self-report form called: the variable can be described in many ways.
