PSYB01H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 7: Simple Random Sample, Quota Sampling, Confidence Interval
Document Summary
Chapter 7: asking people about themselves survey research. Asking some demographic info is necessary to adequately describe your sample: behaviours questions that focus on past behaviours or intended future behaviours. Agreement with this question means disagreement w/ the proposal or dangerous influence the way ppl respond and may lead to bias: one way to avoid this is to word the questions so that consistent agreement is unlikely. Rating scales for closed-ended questions: either just the endpoints or all points. Labelling response alternatives: when labelling only end responses on a scale, respondents decide what the middle measures mean, however, research shows that fully labelled scales are more reliable. Administering surveys: 2 ways to administer surveys: use questionnaires, other is interview format. 10 individuals brought together for a period of usually 2 or 3 hours: there is usually some monetary incentive or gift provided since this interview takes up time and travel costs, advantage is that group interaction is possible.
