The origins of scientific method may be traced to the school of philosophy know as empiricism. In science, the term empirical is used to denote information gained objectively from observation or experimentation. Data information that is gained objectively from observation or experimentation that can be measured and evaluated statistically. These data constitute empirical evidence against which all scientific knowledge is tested. The scientific method is crucial to research because it minimizes bias by providing the ruled by which observations are collected and results are evaluated.
