Document Summary

Chapter 4: increasing a behaviour with positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcer when presented right after a behaviour, it causes the behaviour to increase in frequency; aka reward. Operant behaviours/responses operate on the environment to make a consequence and are in uenced by the consequences they make. If operant behaviour is followed by positive reinforcer, it is increased but if followed by punisher, it is decreased. Positive reinforcers are added to a response so they increase the response but reinforcers can also be removed to increase a response. Negative reinforcement (escape conditioning) removing stimuli right after a response will increase the response; e. g. if you nag kid to do dishes and he listens, the nagging stops so when you remove nagging, the response increases. Positive reinforcement is a law that"s important for learning and has a bunch of factors that tell you the degree of in uence the principle of reinforcement has on behaviour.
