Individuals use schemas to organize the world around them: social schemas. Organized clusters of ideas about categories of social events and people: dates, picnics, committee meetings, family reunions. Jocks: wimps, individuals depend on social schemas to help them efficiently process and store information they gather from interacting with others, stereotypes, widely held beliefs that people have certain characteristics because of their membership in a particular group. Based on: sex, age, membership in ethnic or occupational groups, common gender stereotype. Women are emotional, submissive, illogical and passive.
