Document Summary
Should be included in any theory of human motivation: The integrated wholeness of the organism must be one of the foundation stones of motivation theory. Physiological drives (e. g. hunger) were rejected as a centering point of a model. It should center itself upon ultimate goals, not superficial ones. As there are various paths to the same goal, basic desires are not as important as unconscious ones. Almost all organismic states are to be motivated/motivating. There is a hierarchy, in order to satisfy one, must satisfy the ones below it. Each drive is thus related to the other drives. As it is a hierarchy, and as they are connected, lists of drives will get us nowhere as they do not take the mode of connection/strength into account. Motivations must be based on goals and not drives. The environment helps in determining reactions, though it is not the sole cause.
