Quantitative content analysis: content analysis: a technique for gathering and analyzing the content of text (text=anything written, visual, or spoken, coding: turns aspects of content that represent variables into numbers. Intercoder reliability: important to check for consistency among coders: uses a statistical coefficient that tells the degree of consistency among coders, ranges from 0. 0 to 1. 0, with 1. 0 being perfect intercoder reliability. Inferences: content analysis cannot reveal the intentions of those who created the text or the effects that messages in the text have on those who receive them.
