Intervention-based research discusses two distinct fields of research; determinant and intervention research. Determinant research examines the factors that affect exercise behaviours. Determinants are factors that predict exercise behaviour. Individuals generally exercise less frequently as they age. Psychological factors assess what the individual is thinking and what traits they might possess. Social factors involve aspects with social setting or human interactions. Social support is a strong predictor of exercise adherence for most individuals.
