Document Summary

Outsiders can often provide the best insights to a society. In china, propaganda is used to push products, rather than the businessman forcing you to buy something. You begin to believe you need it. Hard to take an objective view on advertising since we"ve always been exposed to it. We usually protest that, while others may be and probably are affected by advertising, we know that advertising doesn"t really affect us. This is what advertisers want us to think. In a study, 14% of people said they were more affected by ads than others, 50% said they were affected less, and 36% said they were influenced about the same. Most felt ads affect everyone else as much or more than them. People felt that women, younger people, and people in lower-income groups were influenced more than the average person. This is true, but they did not want to acknowledge it.
