Most people"s earliest memory is something that happened to them when they were about three years old. Memory tends to focus on a family event. Beyond a significant event or two, we recall little of our earliest years. The younger we are when asked to recall the memory, the less reliably we can recall our earliest memory. Elinor ames studied children who"s emotional, physical, and social needs were not being met as infants. In 1990s many infants in romania were given to state-run orphanages. This 1/3 were likely to have been adopted before 4 months of age. 2/3 did not fare as well as they were somewhat developmentally delayed.
