ADMS 2600 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Neuroticism, Job Analysis, Graduate Management Admission Test
Document Summary
Selection: the process of choosing individuals who have relevant quali cations to ll existing to projected job openings. Job speci cations help identify the individual competencies employees need for success. This is the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other factors (ksaos) that lead to superior performance. Managers use selection methods such as interviews, references, and preemployment tests to measure applicant ksaos against the competencies required for the job. Complete and clear speci cation of the required competencies helps interviewers differentiated between quali ed and unquali ed applicants and reduces the effects of any biases and prejudices the interviewer may have. Many organizations also place high priority on selecting individuals who match the values and culture of their organization. A drawback of values-based hiring is that it can result in a lack of diversity therefore, companies need to be cautious of hiring too many of the same types of people.
