Document Summary

Social cognitive theory- a perspective that can help us understand what and how people learn by observing others. How they begin to take control of their own behavior. Has its early roots in behaviorism and thus addresses the effects of reinforcement and punishment. incorporated cognitive processes into its explanations of learning and now includes a blend of ideas from behaviorism and cognitive psychology. Learning is an internal process that may or may not lead to a behavior change. Learning as a mental change that may or may not be reflected in the learner"s present or future behavior. For example, you might try to dribble a basketball as soon as you watch someone else do it. And you might never walk through campus nude, no matter how many times you see someone else do it. Cognitive processes influence motivation as well as learning. People and their environments mutually influence each other.
