Document Summary
Due to lack of medical improvements, many veterans faced diseases and infections and many more ended up loosing their lives in the process of getting help from the government. Several others committed suicide because their pain became unbearable. Other major concern would be the reconstruction of the confederate states due to the immense damage caused during the civil war. Where did it failed and why: the most important achievement of reconstruction in my opinion was bringing the north and south together and form united states as a whole again. In the process of separating america in the north and south, the people"s beliefs and traditions were also separated and reconstruction helps bring back their old belief system and restore faith in their freedom and their heritage. Other achievements were such as passing more laws; the enforcement act of 1870, the compromise of 1877 and more. However, reconstruction did not help unite america politically.
