Seeks explainations for observed phenomena that rely solely on natural causes. Progresses through the creation and testing of models of nature that explain the observations as simply as possible. A scientific model must make testable predictions about natural phenomena that would force us to revise or abandon the model if the predictions did not agree with the observations. A scientific theory is a model that explains a wide variety of observations using just a few general principles and has been verified by repeated and varied testing. Astronomy- a modern science that has taught us much about the universe. Astrology- a search for hidden influences on human lives based on the apparent positions of planets and stars in the sky has no scientific valid. Speed- the rate at which an object is moving. Acceleration- a change in velocity, meaning a change in either speed or direction. A force can change an object"s momentum, causing it to accelerate.
