Health professionals need to have reliable, valid, up-to-date knowledge for efecive pracice. The judicious use of best, current evidence in making decisions about the medical care of an individual paient. Same as ebm, except that it encompasses ebp in all health, medical, and allied health ields. Does the proposed treatment work: find best evidence to answer the quesion. Best evidence = studies at highest level of evidence possible. Applicability of results to paient care: appraise of evidence. Criical evaluaion skills to navigate the evidence and idenify studies that should inluence clinical decision making/policy: apply evidence to pracice. Ebp incorporates research with clinical experise and paient"s wants/needs: evaluate outcomes. Conduct scieniic studies of eicacy and efeciveness of pracice, eicacy and paient saisfacion, cost-efecive. Add to the body of knowledge for reinement. Side note: eicacy is tesing something under ideal circumstances (ex. Using condoms of high quality with 100% proper use)
