All sarcomeres throughout the muscle bre"s length shorten simultaneously. Contraction is accomplished by thin laments from opposite sides of each sarcomere sliding closer together. Activated cross bridge bends toward centre of thick lament, rowing in the thin. Myosin heads swivel toward centre of sarcomere (power stroke) Atp binds to myosin head and detaches it from actin. One motor mourn and the muscle bres it innervates. Number of muscle bres varies among di erent motor units.
