th Image Capture (September 12 , 2013) Traditional copy types: - Line Copy originals - Continuous Tone originals Line Copy (Linework): - comprised of two tones - type on solid, coloured background - pen/ink drawing - screened print (previously scanned, halftone dots) - no shades of colour - no dots  Digitizing: - output at platesetter resolution (ex. 1200 or 2400 dpi) - vector-based and resolution independent - originals are 1-point .tiff files Continuous Tone: - comprised of two or more tones - B/W or colour, charcoal sketch, paintings, colour tints - produced using a contact screen or camera - tints created in page layout programs - scanners reproduce images *ALL DIGITAL*  Digitizing: - via halftones (continuous tone images made up of varying sizes of dots equally spaced a part) - tints (variations of halftones which are same sized dots equally spaces a part to show different variation of colour) - ex. 50% magenta - halftones (no round dots, affected by the linescreen ruling of the print
