The entire autonomic systems consists of chains of two neurons
-neuron will send the signal out (pre-ganglionic neuron) originating in the central
nervous system (CNS)
Peripheral nervous system, the projections go out and iminges in the ganglia. This
is the second neuron set (post-ganglionic neuron)
-Presynaptic space and memebrane, the post-synaptic membrane is where the
signal is received and then go to the post-ganglionic nerve

Two different nervous systems:
From an anatomical standpoint the
Sympathetic division of the nervous system has short preganglionic fibres and long
post ganglionic fibres
Parasymapthetic division is characterized by long and short post-ganglionic fibres
The one exception is that some pre ganglionic fibres will impinge on the adrenal
medulla and will cause the release of epi and essentially epi can be converted to
norepi that will be the important part of the fight or flight response. Will send a
signal from the adrenal gland into the bloodstream to all tissues.
Somatic nervous systems will being in the CNS and then go to the skeletal muscle
-voluntary part of the nervous system

Document Summary

The entire autonomic systems consists of chains of two neurons. Neuron will send the signal out (pre-ganglionic neuron) originating in the central nervous system (cns) Peripheral nervous system, the projections go out and iminges in the ganglia. This is the second neuron set (post-ganglionic neuron) Presynaptic space and memebrane, the post-synaptic membrane is where the signal is received and then go to the post-ganglionic nerve. Sympathetic division of the nervous system has short preganglionic fibres and long post ganglionic fibres. Parasymapthetic division is characterized by long and short post-ganglionic fibres. Will send a signal from the adrenal gland into the bloodstream to all tissues. Somatic nervous systems will being in the cns and then go to the skeletal muscle. Adrenaline and noradrenaline are two diff substance but do the same exact thing. Epinephrine and norepinephrine are the same thing (note) In symp nervous system the short preganglionic fiber and will impinging on the ganglionic neurons.
