Document Summary

Small analogy: think of parent-offspring as a conflict over money. Your parents do not want to give too much. *your parents will weight these benefits and cost differently conflict. Food can be used for current offspring, or for future offspring. Benefit b(p) = give food to current offspring, hence increase fitness of current offspring. Cost c(p) = cost to give up producing future offspring. The offspring is trying to maximize their benefit cost, and parents are also trying to maximize their benefit cost. If offspring takes more food, then fitness of future siblings will decrease. Benefit of food will saturate thus create the plateau. More provision in current offspring the higher the cost for future offspring. Po = the optimal provision from offspring point of view. Give food to current offspring benefit= increase fitness of current offspring. Cost = decrease the number of future offspring production. But all offspring of the parents are 50% genetically related to the parent.
