Document Summary

Genotype frequenciesn in a population are determined by the processes of an individual. To be able to relate this individual genetic processes to genetic populations, we have to study different factors that affect allele frequencies. one gene flow can be migration, its where alleles move between populations and mate. Another factor is mating patterns, another is mutations. Natural selection where different genotypes have different chances of survival. A phenotype frequency is the proportion of individuas in a population that express a particular phenotype and these differ for different populations. They both siscovered independently that random mating results in an equilibrium frequency of ge(cid:374)otypes, that (cid:396)a(cid:374)do(cid:373) (cid:373)ati(cid:374)g does(cid:374) t cha(cid:374)ge ge(cid:374)otype f(cid:396)e(cid:395)ue(cid:374)cies. This maintains genetic differentiation within a generation and from one generation to the next. There has to be no genetic drift that occurs. We know that all of these assumptions are most likely violated in real populations.
