Document Summary

All our cells have the same dna, but different cells behave differently. Gene expressions inhibit cells from acting like other cells. Ha(cid:448)ing different gene e(cid:454)pressions (cid:862)on(cid:863) gi(cid:448)es rise to the over 200 cell types in our body. The muscle cell has both sets of genes, but it only uses the myosin gene. Most gene expression in different cells are th same. This tool is used to view the expression of genes. Take 2 slides and ebmed microarrays on the slide, and e =mbed oligonucleotide on them. It shows that they are ordered in columns, each dot shows a particular gene of interest. Add a stable cousin of rna to tell us about gene expression. gene expression microarrays: Instead of going from rna to dna, reverse transcriptase goes from dna to rna. When its yellow, both normal and tumor genes are present in the rna. Gene expressions are continuous, its not just on or off.
