Refers to the program or process used to establish preventative and corrective measures as the final stage of hazard recognition and assessment. Goal is to eliminate, reduce or control hazards in order to minimize loss: engineering. Moving parts have the potential for causing severe workplace injuries. Any machine part, function or process which may cause injury must be safeguarded. Dangerous moving parts in these 3 basic areas need safeguarding. All components of the mechanical system which transmit energy to the part of the machine performing the work including pulleys, belts, etc. Safeguarding systems not effective unless the worker know how to use and why. The orderly, uniform, continuous and scheduled repair and maintenance of equipment, machinery and buildings. Requirements for pre-start up inspection (manufacturers of cars) Recordkeeping (no record of maintenance if selling the car) Audits (site leader, just make sure the maintenance program is being done)
