Moving parts can cause severe workplace injuries. Crushed finger/ hands; burns; blindness (from flying parts) Any machine part, function, process can cause injury must have safeguard. Dangerous moving parts in 3 areas need safeguarding: 1) point of operation where work performed on material. 2) power, transmission apparatus all parts of mechanical system transmit energy to part of machine performing working. 3) other moving parts- all moving parts while machine working (can"t put hands on or reach in) Requirement for safeguarding: safeguards meet least general requirements. Prevent contact ; secure not lose ; protect from falling things.
