Early sport and film (cinematograph, newsreels, features) Experience of fans has been primarily defined as the medium that we view it. In this visual age, sport is consumed largely though visual representations. For the past 40 years tv has been its defining medium, but film has had a long, symbiotic relationship with sport. Imdb lists over 1,000 sports feature films produced in the u. s. alone and another 750 produced internationally. There are more than 3,000 sport-themed documentaries. Sport has turned into an entertainment spectacle. Sport and the cinema both emerged as structured forms of leisure i modernizing societies at the end of the 19th century. Now they are two of the leading contemporary cultural forms that still attract huge audiences to a single cultural product. Sport and visual culture go hand in hand. A 16lb motion picture film camera powered by a hand crank, which also served a film projector. It was mobile and could bring it to sporting events.
