Document Summary

There is considerable debate on the role of money in motivating employees. Read the text, do some extra research - to support your answer/response. I think that money is one of the extrinsic influencers that satisfies the human needs. As far as the motivation is concerned, there are other factors e. g. , intrinsic intentions that stimuluses the level of motivation. Content theories have clarified it very well by helping us understand the motivation through fundamental human needs. For example, in maslow" theory of hierarchy of needs, money play a crucial role to fulfil the two-lower level of human needs i-e survival and psychological needs (food and shelter), safety needs. In the pyramid of needs, these two basic needs (survival & safety) are extremely dependant on extrinsic incentives (money) as compared to other three levels of needs (social, ego and self-actualization) that get satisfied with intrinsic influences.
