Had very good illustration which was shown to americans to show what was going on. Came out a year before pearl harbor ( japan attacked pearl harbor on dec 7, 1941) Job to assist media to spread messages of support for war. Bureau of motion pics ( bmp) tried to influence hollywood to make films to support the war and portray everything the usa did in a positive light. Films continue to be made in abundance during the war ( many industries stopped during war time but the film industry was able to continue) Geopolitical issues and both sides of the conflict reduced to a small drama in the outpost of casablanca. Holly(cid:449)ood (cid:449)as a refuge for people (cid:449)ho didn"t (cid:449)ant to li(cid:448)e or (cid:449)ork in occupied places. Movie made a few months after pearl harbor. Deals with isolationists--that people were not behind the war-movie was to win over these people ( like the character of cynical rick)
