Family dynamics the way in which the family operates as a whole. Families are complex social units whose members are all interdependent and reciprocally influence one another. All family members influence one another through their behaviors. Family functioning is influenced by the social support that parents receive and undermined by economic stresses. Family dynamics may also be altered by changes in parents, in the marital relationship, or in the relationships of other family members. Biological characteristics of both the children and the parents, as well as parental behaviors, contribute to the nature of family interactions. Socialization is the process through which children acquire the values, standards, skills, knowledge, and behaviors that are regarded as appropriate for their present and future roles in their culture. Parents contribute to children"s socialization in at least 3 different ways. Parenting styles parenting behaviors and attitudes that set the emotional climate in regard to parent-child interactions, such as parental responsiveness and demandingness.
