In 1971, canada was the first country to announce an official policy of multiculturalism and later putting it into the charter of rights and freedoms - later an act was passed. Multiculturalism can refer to the presence of ethnocultural communities and the way those communities should interact. It can be used to describe a society, an ideological position and a set of policies.
