What causes stress: general adaptation syndrome (gas): our bodies constantly strive to maintain a stable and consistent physiological state called homeostasis. Stressors disturb homeostasis and trigger a non-specific physiological response. The body attempts to restore homeostasis by means of an adaptive response.
