Job shop - manufacturing company that produces goods in response to customer orders. Basic input is broken down into one or more outputs. Basic inputs are combined together to form the output. Uses producion runs that last a long ime without equipment shut downs. Used for high-volume, low-variety products with standardized parts. Short producion runs are used to make batches of diferent products. Machines are shut down to make diferent products at diferent imes (low-volume, high-variety products)
